Paralyzed Cyclist Rides on Toward One Million Miles

Danny Chew is one of the most celebrated long-distance cyclists in the United States. He’s won Race Across America multiple times and even founded the Dirty Dozen—a popular bike race up the steepest hills in his hometown of Pittsburgh. For years, Chew has been working toward his ultimate goal of logging one million miles on a bike; but his life took a tragic turn when an accident left him without the use of his legs. Demonstrating his commitment and resilience, less than one year after the accident, Chew is back on a bike—a hand-powered recumbent bike—and cycling toward his goal.
