Coffee in Sweden

It’s customary to pour milk or cream into coffee in many parts of the world. But in some areas of Scandinavia, people add chunks of kaffeost—aka coffee cheese. It’s a tradition that goes back generations to a time when people didn’t have refrigerators to keep milk from spoiling. Erica Hermansson, who lives in Kåge, Sweden, makes her coffee cheese at home and brews her coffee outside over a fire.
