Coffee in Ethiopia

When Dassu Tola makes coffee, she makes a big pot—enough to serve her family and neighbors. Tola lives in Dima Atabala, Ethiopia, where the locals drink jimma. She roasts the beans in a pan and grounds them with a mortar and pestle. Once brewed, the coffee is served with cloves and sugar, and sometimes salt.

If there is one thing people everywhere love, it’s coffee. In this installment of Around the World, we’re getting our caffeine fix from Vietnam to Ethiopia.
