Argosy Books Is New York City’s Oldest Bookstore

Argosy Books is built for browsing. The shelves of the six-floor antiquarian bookseller in midtown Manhattan are packed with old books. Some are rare—first editions by authors like Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde. Judith Lowry’s father started the business in 1925. Today, she runs New York City’s oldest bookstore with three family members.

This Great Big Story was inspired by Genesis.
