Passing the Ball: How a Basketball Star Built a Legacy in his Hometown

The last time Spring Grove Area High School won a basketball championship was in 1971. For years, the tight-knit Pennsylvania community of around 2,000 residents had been looking for something (or someone) to rally around. And now, it’s got varsity basketball star Eli Brooks. Brooks, whose father James coaches the varsity team, helped lead the school to a county championship this past season. A graduating senior, Eli will take his talents to the University of Michigan basketball program in the fall. And while he may be leaving Spring Grove, the winning legacy that he built and the community that he helped inspire will always remain.
