In Fiji, rugby is king. And the Yamacia Rugby Club personifies the sport’s grit and rugged determination. Lead by founder David Dakuitoga, the club is an initiative to give unemployed youth a second chance, but it has made a name for itself through demanding, improvised workouts that utilize tree trunks, old tires and concrete cinder blocks. Seven years after its founding as a grassroots club in a remote neighborhood, Yamacia Rugby Club now competes internationally and produces some of the island’s very best stars.
