Inking Her Own Story

For Shanzey Afzal, a tattoo is a declaration of self—not a cry for help. Raised in a conservative Muslim family that eventually disowned her, the Brooklyn-based artist embraced her belief that tattoos and her faith could coexist and never looked back.
